ABOUT SIBERIAN CATS

The Siberian cat’s story stretches back centuries, with origins rooted deep in the forests of Russia. Revered in its homeland for its resilience and majestic triple-layered coat, the Siberian was a natural breed that evolved to survive harsh climates while remaining affectionate and loyal companions to humans. They’ve long been a fixture in Russian folklore and were only introduced to the Western world in recent decades, where their popularity has steadily grown thanks to their beauty, intelligence, and gentle nature.

The Siberian is a medium to large-sized cat with a strong, muscular, and athletic build. Adults typically weigh between 4–9 kilos, with males being noticeably larger than females. Their most distinctive features include a rounded head, expressive almond-shaped eyes, tufted ears, and a dense, water-resistant triple coat. Unlike flat-faced breeds, Siberians have a balanced facial structure with a slightly rounded profile and powerful neck and limbs built for agility and grace.

Siberian cats are known for their affectionate, intelligent, and playful personalities. They are gentle but more active and agile than many long-haired breeds, enjoying games, climbing, and exploring their surroundings. Despite their love of movement, they are equally content curling up near their humans, especially in calm and cozy environments. This combination of liveliness and loyalty makes them excellent companions for families, singles, and even first-time cat owners.

Although rugged in appearance, Siberians are incredibly sweet-natured. They tend to follow their favorite people around the home and often communicate with soft trills or purrs. Many form deep bonds with their humans and are known to greet them at the door or snuggle in bed at night. Their calm, confident disposition also makes them highly adaptable and affectionate without being overly demanding.

Siberians generally get along well with children, other cats, and cat-friendly dogs. They are naturally social and adjust well to new people and pets when socialized early. While they appreciate interactive play, they are just as happy lounging on a windowsill or resting beside you while you work or relax.

Their thick triple coat, while beautiful and plush, requires weekly grooming to prevent tangles and reduce shedding. During seasonal coat changes—especially in spring—they may need more frequent brushing to manage the increased hair loss. Grooming also provides a valuable bonding time between the cat and owner.

Siberian cats are known for their hardiness, but responsible breeders still monitor for hereditary conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Overall, they are considered a healthy, long-lived breed when cared for with proper nutrition, grooming, and veterinary attention. At Wilson’s Siberian Kittens, we are committed to raising healthy, well-socialized kittens with a focus on ethical breeding and long-term wellness.

With their intelligent eyes, affectionate heart, and striking natural beauty, the Siberian cat is a truly exceptional companion. Once bonded, they offer loyalty, affection, and a playful yet peaceful presence that brings warmth and joy to any home.

HOW WE BECAME SIBERIAN CAT BREEDERS

Thanks for visiting our website!
My name is Joseph Wilson, and together with my family, we proudly run Wilson’s Siberian Kittens. We’ve been passionately breeding this wonderful cat breed since 2015. My wife and I are lifelong animal lovers, and our journey with Siberian cats began out of a desire to share the joy and companionship these sweet-natured kittens bring into a home.

Over the years, my knowledge and connection with the Siberian breed have only deepened. These cats are incredibly intelligent, affectionate, and have such unique personalities that they continue to teach us something new every day. My love for pets started early—back when I was just 10 years old. That Christmas, my parents gifted me my very first kitten: a Siberian I named Milo.

Milo wasn’t just a pet—he was my childhood companion. Through all the ups and downs of growing up, Milo was always by my side. He had a calming presence and seemed to understand me better than anyone. I used to talk to him like he was human, hoping he’d talk back one day. Whether I was happy, sad, or just in need of quiet company, Milo was always there.

Years later, I met my wife in college. We became close friends, and when she met Milo, she fell in love with him instantly. In fact, she begged her parents to get her a Siberian cat of her own. Our cats grew up playing together, and our bond as a couple deepened, rooted in our shared love for this amazing breed. Sadly, Milo passed away during our later years in college, but the memories he gave me have stayed with me for life.

After we got married, our love for Siberians only grew stronger. That’s when we decided to take our passion a step further and start Wilson’s Siberian Kittens—a small, family-run cattery focused on raising healthy, well-socialized, and affectionate kittens. Today, we live with our two kids on a peaceful 3-acre property, where our kittens have space to play, explore, and grow into the lovable companions they’re meant to be.

At Wilson’s Siberian Kittens, we’re committed to helping families find the perfect furry addition to their home. With a lifetime of experience and love for this breed, we can honestly say that Siberians are one of the best cats you’ll ever meet—gentle, loyal, and full of character.

We personally raise and care for every kitten with the attention they deserve, ensuring they’re ready to bring joy into the lives of their future families. If you’re looking for a loving, family-friendly kitten with a calm temperament and tons of charm, you’re in the right place.
